Costa Fuego / Waterfront
Not water-adjacent. Not a view across a parking lot. The building stands on pilings above the lake, and so does your table.
Plenty of restaurants near Sacramento claim a waterfront. Costa Fuego is the rare one that is on the water: pilings under the floor, lake on three sides, and a covered deck where the rail is the only thing between your table and open water.
At lunch the lake is turquoise and alive with riders on the wakeboard cable. At golden hour it turns to glass and the string lights come on. Same table, two completely different rooms.
The deck faces the cable wakeboarding lake at Velocity Island Park. Order the Costa Caliente and a frozen margarita, and watch riders throw spray fifty feet from your seat. On event nights, the riders go under the lights.
And you never need a park ticket to be here. The restaurant is open to the public: walk in, eat over the water, walk out.
Yes, literally. The building stands on pilings over the lake. Both the dining room and the covered deck are above open water, not beside it.
About 20 minutes north on I-5, at 755 North East Street in Woodland, with free parking. From Davis it is about 15 minutes up Highway 113.
Both. Folding glass walls open the dining room onto the covered deck, and indoor tables keep the lake view. String lights carry the deck after dark.
Golden hour. The lake flattens, the sky goes pink, and the lights come on. Check hours since the restaurant follows the park's seasonal schedule, and call ahead on event nights.
Yes. Costa Fuego's covered deck sits directly over open water at Velocity Island Park in Woodland, about 20 minutes north of Sacramento off I-5, with wakeboarders carving past and sunsets over the lake from the table.
Open with the park. No park ticket needed.
